Planting for Tomorrow: Forest Division Kargil’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Initiative

On July 27, the Forest Division Kargil organized the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive aimed at environmental conservation. The event was honored by the presence of Mohd Ali, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kargil, who served as the chief guest. The program commenced with a pledge ceremony, where participants committed to safeguarding and preserving the environment.

Dr. Amitab, Principal of (PM Shri) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kargil, also attended and encouraged students to reflect on the environmental impact of their actions. He commended the Forest Department for organizing the event and planting trees under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative at (PM Shri) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kargil.

During the event, students delivered speeches highlighting the importance of tree plantation in environmental protection, emphasizing its role in fostering a sustainable environment.

Mohd Ali, DFO Kargil, reiterated the primary objective of the plantation drive and discussed the delicate environmental balance in Ladakh. He expressed gratitude to all participants for their contribution to the success of the event.

The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive represents a significant initiative in promoting environmental awareness and action in Drass. The collaboration between the Forest Department and (PM Shri) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kargil underscores the vital role of community engagement in environmental conservation efforts.

As part of the drive, students planted 30 different species of plants in poly bags, and a painting competition engaged 50 students in creative expression on environmental themes.
