Secretary Education Bhanu Prabha meets CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon to discuss Kargil’s education system

Secretary of Higher Education, School Education, and Skill Development, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, met with the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, at the Council Secretariat in Kargil on January 6.

Executive Councillors Kacho Mohd Feroz and Zakir Hussain, Councillors, the Director of School Education, the Chief Education Officer of Kargil, and other officials attended the meeting.

Dr. Akhoon welcomed Bhanu Prabha with a traditional khatak and extended his best wishes as she assumed her new role as Secretary of Higher Education and School Education for UT Ladakh.

During the meeting, Dr. Akhoon reiterated LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to supporting and strengthening the education system in the district. Discussions focused on addressing challenges and devising strategies to improve school education in Kargil.

Later, a delegation of contractual staff working under the SAMAGRA scheme met with both the CEC and the Secretary. The delegation raised key concerns, including a request for increments in honorariums, provision of maternity leave, and other related issues.

Dr. Akhoon assured the delegation that the administration would take necessary steps to address these issues.
