All India Radio Kargil Celebrates Women Achievers on International Women’s Day with a Focus on Technology and Gender Equality

On March 8, in celebration of International Women’s Day, All India Radio Kargil honored women achievers at MP Studio, AIR Kargil. Gynecologist CHC Sankoo, Dr. Nasreen Fatima, stated that the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.” Dr. Fatima praised Kargil society for supporting girls and promoting gender equality, which has allowed women from various fields to excel.

The BDC Chairperson emphasized that if a girl from a remote village like Chiktan can achieve great success, then any woman from Kargil can do wonders, and society should encourage such individuals. She commended AIR Kargil for providing a platform for women to express and share their expertise to inspire others.

AIR Kargil recognized the women achievers by awarding them traditional Khataks and certificates for their contributions in various fields. The awardees included Sayeeda Banoo, BDC Chairperson, for her outstanding leadership in the development of Shakar Chiktan Block, Dr. Nasreen Fatima for her exemplary work in the health and social sector, Hakima Banoo for her revolutionary decisions to provide solar lift irrigation pumps to her village, and Husniya Banoo for her expertise in mushroom cultivation and training women in the same.

In addition, progressive farmers like Salma Banoo, Kulsum Banoo, Fatima Banoo, and Sakina Banoo were also felicitated for their outstanding work in modern agriculture techniques and vegetable cultivation. Folk artist and singer Dechen Chuskit was honored for promoting and preserving the traditional treasure of folk songs, and Tayiba Fatima, the youngest female archer who won gold in a recent LG Cup Archery Tournament, was also felicitated. Archo Nargis and Zahra Banoo Mir, senior female broadcasters of AIR Kargil, were recognized for empowering women through their fruitful programs from AIR Kargil.

The Head of Office AIR Kargil, Ramakant Prashar, highlighted that AIR Kargil is a medium to reach out to the audience and urged women achievers to use this platform to share their stories to inspire young people to achieve the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day – “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.”
