In commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the conferral of the Nobel Peace Prize upon His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan community in Leh orchestrated a ceremonial event at the CRO office on December 10. The Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Executive Councillor (Tibetan Welfare), LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, assumed the role of the guest of honor.
The event witnessed the presence of Councillors from Nyoma, Korzok & Phyang constituencies of LAHDC Leh, SDM Nyoma, Tibetan CRO Ladakh, the Speaker of the Tibetan Local Assembly Ladakh, and various representatives from the wards of Tibetan Settlement.
CEC Tashi Gyalson extended congratulations to the Tibetan community, both within and outside Tibet, on this special occasion. He highlighted the global significance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as a tireless advocate for peace and harmony. Despite facing adversity and being compelled to leave his homeland at a young age, His Holiness continues to promote harmony and peaceful resolutions to ongoing issues. CEC Gyalson emphasized the observance of World Human Rights Day, underscoring the global commitment to opposing human rights violations worldwide, including those persisting within Tibet.
CEC Gyalson stressed the importance of a united voice against human rights violations globally, urging citizens to heed the advice and guidance of eminent figures like His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for the maintenance of global harmony and a peaceful society. He also highlighted LAHDC Leh’s commitment to ensuring the equitable development of the Tibetan community in Ladakh, pledging continued support from the Hill Council and the Ladakh Administration in the future.
The CRO Ladakh and other esteemed dignitaries also addressed the gathering, shedding light on the significance of the day.
