Friends Club Chiktan Clinches Victory in Kargil Hero’s Cup Cricket Tournament-2023

Friends Club Chiktan emerged victorious in the Kargil Hero’s Cup Cricket Tournament-2023, triumphing over Skarchan Latoo by two wickets on October 22.

The tournament, organized by the Human Upliftment Organization Ladakh, took place at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Biamathang, and saw participation from 90 teams representing different parts of the district.

The concluding ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC, Kargil, along with Shrikant Balsaheb Suse, Deputy Commissioner/CEO of LAHDC, Kargil, and various councilors including Abdul Wahid from Bhimbhat, Chuliskambo, and Chiktan constituency, Kacho Liyaqat Khan. Additionally, members of civil society, players, and sports enthusiasts attended the event.

During the ceremony, CEC Jaffer commended the winning and runner-up teams for their outstanding sportsmanship and splendid performance in the final match, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the spirit of sportsmanship. He highlighted that sports events like these serve a dual purpose—they not only provide entertainment but also contribute significantly to keeping individuals physically fit and away from negative influences.

Addressing the need for improved infrastructure at the stadium, CEC Jaffer assured attendees that matters concerning facilities such as lavatories and dressing rooms for players would be promptly addressed. He emphasized that enhancing sports infrastructure would be a top priority for LAHDC Kargil.

Furthermore, he stated that the Hill Council, in collaboration with District Administration Kargil, would work together to resolve all issues related to sports infrastructure and promotion.

Deputy Commissioner Kargil extended his congratulations to the winning and runner-up teams, appreciating the efforts of both the players and organizers. He pledged full support from the district administration to further enhance the playground and its amenities.

The winning team was honored with a trophy and a cash prize of ₹1,50,000, while the runners-up received a trophy and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.

Mussa Mohd from Friends Chiktan was named the man of the match for his exceptional display of cricketing skills throughout the tournament. Additionally, the dignitaries presented medals to the winning and runner-up teams to acknowledge their achievements.
