Kargil Gears Up for 10th Yoga Day with Focus on Women’s Empowerment

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, Suhail Ahmed, chaired a meeting to finalize plans for the upcoming 10th Yoga Day celebrations in Kargil, scheduled for June 21, 2024.

The meeting focused on coordinating yoga sessions across multiple venues, including the main event at Khree Sultan Cho Stadium, Biamathang, and at all Higher Secondary Schools and Panchayat levels, with a special emphasis on the theme “Empowerment of Women.”

ADC Ahmed assessed preparations for yoga trainers, mats, seating, stage decor, transportation, medical services, refreshments, security, promotion, publicity, and other logistical requirements.

He directed the Additional Director of Information to ensure comprehensive dissemination of event details via social media and other platforms well in advance.

The ADC instructed the Education Department officials to organize yoga sessions at Higher Secondary Schools and tasked the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) with deploying trainers and coordinating with other departments for smooth event management.

Furthermore, arrangements for refreshments were delegated to the Assistant Officer to the Deputy Commissioner.

The meeting was attended by officials including the Assistant Commissioner of Development, Chief Medical Officer of Kargil, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Officer to the Deputy Commissioner, representatives from the Information Department, District Youth Services and Sports, Culture Academy Kargil, Municipality, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), and other relevant stakeholders.
