Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Reviews Preparations for Youth 20 Pre-Summit

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), recently reviewed the ongoing preparations for the Youth 20 Pre-Summit to be held in Leh from April 26 to 28, 2023. The event will be held under the aegis of G20 India Summit, and delegates from different countries will be attending.

During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor inspected the arrival section of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) airport and instructed officials to replace broken tiles and install hoardings and sign boards to welcome the delegates to Ladakh. He also inspected the e-buses that would transport the delegates to their respective hotels and asked officials to ensure that the delegates face no inconvenience during their stay.

The Lieutenant Governor also visited the site where tents and stands were installed to provide medical facilities and refreshments to the delegates. He instructed that the attendants/staff at these stalls should be in proper uniforms. The Airports Authority of India officials were commended for their efforts in improving cleanliness and other facilities at the KBR airport.

Moreover, the Lieutenant Governor inspected the preparatory works at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra. The Divisional Commissioner, Saugat Biswas, who is also the G-20 Nodal Officer in Ladakh, informed the Lieutenant Governor about various arrangements made for the delegates. These included traditional welcome by cultural troupes from Ladakh, the installation of mobile toilets, the use of e-buses for ferrying delegates to their hotels, and proper coordination for the tagging and transportation of delegates’ luggage/baggage from Delhi to Leh. Doctors from AIIMS will brief the delegates about health and safety measures to be observed during their stay in Ladakh.

During the Lieutenant Governor’s visit, Advisor Shri Umang Narula, Commissioner Secretary Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Secretary Saugat Biswas, Deputy Commissioner Leh Shri Shrikant Suse, SSP Leh Smt PD Nitya, and other government officials and officials from AAI were also present.
